The horrors of World War II led to an understanding and intensification of the need to establish a Jewish state for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel. The realization of this existential need led to a tremendous enlistment of the population in the country from all shades of the political and social spectrum, in which women played an equal role. In the struggle to establish a state for the Jewish people the resistance movements played a major role of which women were an integral part.

The resistance embraced female power and gave women an equal place to that of men, both in planning, on the battlefield, and in actions for the establishment of new settlements throughout the country. This ink drawing is a tribute to women’s contributions and sacrifices during that intense era of hardship.
