I painted this work from a crayon landscape sketch I drew early one morning in the Hula Valley marsh. The medium I used is acrylic, however the painting is done in a watercolor technique. The colors in the painting are velvety and blurred throughout regardless of the specific area I painted, hence the marsh and sky are both treated with very light and soft strokes. The colors blend one into the other yet the definition of the marsh and sky are clear and separate. The brush strokes throughout the painting create a myriad of flowing colors that enhance the lyrical quality of the scene.

The use of acrylics in a watercolor technique allowed me to achieve a level of transparency and softness that mirrors the tranquil and almost ethereal quality of the early morning in the Hula Valley. As I worked through the layers of color, I focused on capturing the way the light subtly shifts over the marsh at dawn, where the mist rises and blurs the boundary between land and sky. This blending of colors evokes a sense of fluidity and movement, as if the landscape itself is breathing and awakening with the day. Each brushstroke, though gentle, is purposeful in creating a harmonious flow, reflecting the peaceful rhythm of nature. In this piece, I wanted to communicate not only the beauty of the marsh but also the quiet contemplation it inspired in me during that morning.
